During my time at Lords Pharmacy:

Working as a Pharmacy Assistant throughout School/College. Lords Pharmacy, I was responsible for a variety of tasks that helped to ensure the smooth operation of the pharmacy. One of my main responsibilities was repeat management, which involved data entry of repeat prescriptions for patients from 3 surgeries onto an excel document that I created. This enabled the pharmacy to record how many patients had repeat prescriptions per week, what and how much medication they were taking, and track whether the patients had handed in their prescriptions. This allowed me to make requests on patients’ behalf if they had not handed in their prescriptions.

Another responsibility was prescription charge management. I was responsible for the monthly submission of electronic records of prescriptions issued by the pharmacy to the NHS for payment. This helped to ensure that the pharmacy was reimbursed for the prescriptions it had issued, and that the pharmacy was able to continue to provide services to patients.

I also had to deal with customers on a regular basis. This involved providing advice about over the counter medications, making sales, distributing filled prescriptions to customers, and liaison with pharmacists regarding any problems with patients’ medication. This helped to ensure that patients received the correct medications and advice, and that the pharmacy was able to provide a high level of customer service.

I was also responsible for bagging prescriptions. In conjunction with the pharmacist, I ensured that the prescription and dosage were correct and that the right patient label had been assigned. This helped to ensure that patients received the correct medications and that there were no errors in the dispensing process.

Lastly, I was responsible for the administration of the NHS Needle Exchange programme. I handed out and recorded the exchange of new needles to customers covered by the NHS, helping to prevent the spread of disease. I also forwarded the collated information to Pharma Outcomes, which helped to ensure that the programme was running smoothly and that patients were receiving the services they needed.
